Bridging Cultures: Muslim Journeys

In January 2013, the National Endowment for Humanities selected the TCU Library to receive two Muslim Journeys grants: the Bookshelf and Let's Talk About It. Social Sciences Research Librarian, Robyn Reid, was instrumental in the Library receiving these grants.

TCU is one of 840 libraries to receive the The Bridging Cultures Bookshelf, which includes 25 books and 3 films, carefully selected by Muslim Scholars in conjunction with the American Library Association. To celebrate this award, the Library hosted a kick-off event on October 10, with Dr. Bonnie Frederick, TCU Spanish and Hispanic Studies Professor as guest speaker. The TCU Library is also one of 125 libraries awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the American Library Association (ALA) to host a series of book discussions based on this collection.

Let's Talk About It: Muslim Journeys is a book discussion series designed to foster opportunities for informed community conversations about the histories, faith and cultures of Muslims around the world and within the United States. Dr. Frederick will also facilitate the Let's Talk About It: Muslim Journeys, a book discussion series to be held in Spring 2014. The public is invited to participate. This book discussion series requires an RSVP and we are requesting interested participants to commit to all five sessions. You can register for the book discussion series, starting in January 2014, through TCU Extended Education at www.lifelong.tcu.edu. All events are free.
