America's Historical Newspapers

This database includes Early American Newspapers, Series I, 1690-1876 and Hispanic American Newspapers, 1808-1980.

Early American Newspapers, Series I (EAN) is a full text archive collection of newspapers based upon Clarence Brigham's History and Bibliography of American Newspapers, 1690-1820, concentrating primarily on those papers that began publication before 1820. Coverage extends from 1690-1876.

Hispanic American Newspapers, 1808-1980 (HAN) represents the single largest compilation of Spanish-language newspapers printed in the U.S. during the 19th and 20th centuries. Including many newspapers published bilingually in Spanish and English, HAN offers a diversity of unabridged voices, ranging from intellectuals and literary notables to politicians, union organizers and grassroots figures.

EAN and HAN can be cross-searched with Early American Imprints, Series I: Evans, 1639-1800 and Early American Imprints, Series II: Shaw-Shoemaker, 1801-1819.
